Happy Valentines Day!!!

Really, I’m terrible at getting stuff done, always at the last minute.  And I really don’t care anything about Valentines Day, but this year I thought it might be cute to make cards with my girls on them.  So, I coaxed Sydney into taking some pictures tonight.  Parker wasn’t game……I wonder what I can bribe her with tomorrow………..maybe some heart candies…..or chocolate….hmmmmm………This first picture is her wearing a fascinator that her aunt helped her make…….

Here’s my girl!  LOL can you tell she’s really into it?  It was her idea to put the hearts all around her on the floor.  Me thinks I may have a future assistant……..I wonder if she works for food……….

I love this heart cookie cutter shot…..now if my poor children could get their sweet tooth deprived mother to make some cookies with that…..they would be sooo happy……….albeit a little hyper………..

This last shot is Sydney’s favorite.

Silver Lining……

They say behind every cloud is a silver lining.  Hmmmmm………this was my last  shoot before Christmas.  Her mother wanted Christmas cards and it was just about a week and a half before Christmas.  Yikes………I had ONE open slot left so I told her it was then or never.  We checked the weather…….it said rain tapering off.  Oh, tapering off, that’s good………   The day came, and the tapering off part?  Not so much.  So the Location I had planned to shoot was a mud bog, I drove around that morning wondering where I was going to do it……..I walked around in the rain in several spots, hoping something magical would come to me.   Ugh it was dark……..and windy……..and cold………..and rainy………  but I kept hoping, and I talked to her mother several times that day…….she worried what to do if the rain didn’t stop,  I told her we were going to shoot anyway.

And we did……..it rained……..and the wind blew……..BUT……. a little fake snow and some cardinals clipped into a tree turned a rainy shoot into a perfect one for a Christmas card………….cause sometimes you just do what you have to do………….and then you end up with a silver lining  ;0)

And with the perfect Christmas card shot done…….we did a few more……I guess we liked the rain, but thanks in part to photoshop, doesn’t look too  rainy does it?

And then a little pop of color to end the day.

Merry Christmas

Well, it’s been a crazy Christmas season……..I just started my shopping this week.  And I had given up on the idea of taking a Christmas picture of my kids, but then a few days ago I just decided to do.  I grabbed some clothes, laid them out for the kids and ambushed them when they came home from school.  I promised them Christmas cookies if they quickly changed and cooperated……..they were eager to oblige me…………until………….we got outside, where it was cold.  Yep like 32 degrees, and they weren’t dressed for cold…..so within minutes, someone got grumpy, someone called someone else fatty…….someone punched someone, someone cried….someone wouldn’t stand next to someone…….Oh, yep, I’m telling on my kids.  Anyway….the bribing worked to get them outside, to finish up the pictures I had to resort to threats.  I think I promised them no video games for the rest of their lives or some such thing…it’s all a blur.

Here are my boys…..Ethan, Sheldon and Jackson……..

And my girls, Parker and Sydney……

And aren’t they good?……Don’t you believe that they are having fun here?……LOL

So, I got my Christmas pictures, but really I”m out of time and probably won’t be sending them in cards this year.  So here’s a thank you to all my clients!  I’m grateful that you’ve let me share your lives this year!  Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!

Edison senior…..

I used a new location for this shoot, a suggestion by my senior…..it was such a great spot!  This girl has such a great smile, it was one of those infectious ones, it made her whole face light up. We had so much fun this evening!  I just LOVE shooting seniors!

Pulled my little red chair out to go with her black and white outfit……I love the having a car full of props…..

This girl’s personality definitely called for some bubbles……..she said blowing them made her feel peppy……LOVED this girl…….

Balloons too……yep I’m like the balloon lady……I have those in the back of my car too…….

Her eyes were so intense……..normally I don’t notice all that stuff until later when I’m reviewing the pictures.  I noticed how intense her eyes were while shooting.  Wow.

She brought her beloved books to the shoot………

and her homecoming dress………..oh see all that netting…………we spent 10 minutes pulling cockle-burrs out of it before shooting the pics.  Hazards of being a country girl LOL!

Bull…….

Anyway, Bull is the name I know him by.  He’s a wrestler and that’s the name I hear my son use when talking about him.   So downtown Steubenville is full of urban grunge locations….perfect for a shoot like this.  We started the shoot using a bright red door of a church that I’m always eyeing when I drive by, and then we did a “walkabout”.  Wow, what an unlimited supply of cool backdrops.  If you check out my blog you’ll know I’m mostly a country girl………but this downtown stuff is growing on me.  This was an awesome session……here are a few……..

And thought I’d do a black and white, I love this location between buildings.

Oh, and those eyes of his, yep, they are really that color.  Holy Cow….right?  And this pic…..no doubt needs to be a life size poster on his wall.

Homecoming

My oldest is a Freshman, wow!  Where, oh, where did the time go?    Here he is with his homecoming date…….hey, don’t worry, they’re just friends people!   I told him he can’t date til he’s thirty (25 with good behavior LOL)!!!!!  Anyway, they went to homecoming with two more friends, and  then of course, the little sisters had to jump into a photo…..I mean…….don’t all little girls dream of wearing dresses like this?   They had a good time, but WOW has homecoming changed a lot since I was in high school.  What happened to a dance in the gym wearing a blue jean skirt or a sweater dress?

Senior season……..

I wanted to share a fun session from a few nights ago.  I seem to shoot many more senior girls than guys, so this always challenges me.  This guy was so comfortable with it all and did everything I asked him to do.  Maybe I should rephrase that……..I didn’t really have to tell him much………he was a natural.  We used some cool locations……I love downtown urban shoots for texture and unexpected backgrounds.  Anyway CJ, thanks for a great session, and here’s a sneak peek for you.

How about these killer eyes!!  Wait til you see the pictures of him in his blue shirt………just sayin………

And this is the “boy in the hood” look…………so okay, maybe this isn’t his personality………but hey it’s cool and fun nonetheless!
